"Just amazing !!!! Room is new , big and clean . The public bath is very comfortable. Lobby is huge! Love that they have coin laundry at every level at the annex, the price is very affordable as well ! Cons: The breakfast can be improved, just basic stuff , not impressive. Hotel Sosei Sapporo - MGallery Collection
"I had a really wonderful stay at Hotel Sosei Sapporo (MGallery Collection) and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Hokkaido. From the moment we arrived, the hotel already stood out with its beautifully designed entrance and lobby. The entire space feels like a curated designer showroom, every corner is thoughtfully styled and incredibly aesthetic, with plenty of Instagram-worthy spots. The room itself was very cosy and comfortable. You can tell that a lot of attention has been put into the details, from the furnishings to the amenities. Even the smaller touches, like the toiletries and hair dryer, felt premium and well-designed, which really elevated the overall experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the service. The staff were exceptionally friendly, warm, and hospitable, making us feel welcomed right from check-in. Their attentiveness definitely added to the comfort of the stay. Overall, I would rate this hotel 9.5/10 and would happily stay here again on my next trip to Sapporo."
Sapporo Prince Hotel

Hotel Monterey Edelhof Sapporo
"Hotel was gorgeous but staff was not very helpful and sometimes downright rude. English fluency is lacking in the front desk staff, which was surprisingly given the hotel architecture. Public bath facilities are extensive but small. In general, expect rude service but good facilities."
Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo
"Slightly far from JR station compared to other hotels which are nearer. About 10mins walk at the outdoor streets. Comfortable room and nice service at front counter."
Jozankei View Hotel
"The hotspring room, sauna room and the cold room are good. Cozy hotel room with good view. Buffet dinner and breakfast are not bad with a variety of choices."
Chateraise Gateaux Kingdom Sapporo Hotel & Spa Resort
"This was probably the anti- climax of our trip. Having been to Sapporo and Hakodate, I thought that a relaxing vacation at a hotel/Spa would be a good retreat before coming back home. Instead this place was a total letdown. 1). The place is dirty...It looked like it has been bought over with no renovation done. The carpets are smelly and moldly. The furniture looks dated. The bed has an awful ordour. 2). The facilities...They gym equipment is so old that it looked like it was there since the 70s. And the have the audacity to charge you for usage of the gym. 3). Half the facilities are closed...When we got there hoping to play with the slides and soak in some sun, the adult pool was closed and so were the tube slides. 4). The staff...They cannot speak English and there was a female staff at the Spa counter who ignored answering and just looked blindly through you. At least Trip.com or the hotel should inform the consumer that the main facilities are closed. Nobody informed us. In the future, it would be good to inform customers that such a place is mainly for kids and their Englsih comprehension and communication is limited. I would not recommend this place to anyone travelling far from abroad."
Jozankei Manseikaku Hotel Milione
"Good location, very big room so comfortable for 5 people. Our room was good view and clean. The location easy to go to many travel spot."
JR tower hotel nikko sapporo

Where to Stay in Sapporo
Sapporo's hotel geography splits cleanly into three zones. Susukino puts you in the middle of the city's nightlife and dining scene. Odori Park anchors the central corridor with shopping arcades and transit hubs. Nakajima Park offers a quieter, greener base a short ride south of the action.
Susukino
Hokkaido's largest entertainment district, Susukino packs ramen alleys, izakayas, and bars into a walkable grid. Staying here means dinner and a drink are never more than a block away. The area also has direct subway access on the Namboku and Toho lines.

Sapporo Travel Essentials
Getting Around
- Sapporo's subway runs three lines: Namboku (green), Tozai (orange), and Toho (blue), linking major hotels, shopping areas, and JR Sapporo Station.
- The JR Rapid Airport Train connects New Chitose Airport to Sapporo Station in roughly 37 minutes (¥1,150 / ~$7.16), running every 10 to 15 minutes. Airport buses cost ¥1,300–1,500 (~$8.10–9.35) and take 70 to 90 minutes.
- SAPICA, the city's IC transit card, works on the subway, streetcar, and city buses. One-day unlimited ride passes cover all three modes on routes operated by Chuo, Jotetsu, and JR Hokkaido Buses.
Local Food
- Sapporo's three signature dishes are miso ramen, soup curry, and jingisukan (grilled lamb barbecue), backed by fresh Hokkaido seafood including crab, sea urchin, and salmon roe.
- The city is the birthplace of soup curry in Japan: a lighter, spice-forward broth served with chunky vegetables and meat. Over 200 specialty shops now compete across town, with GARAKU among the highest rated.
- Susukino's Ganso Ramen Yokocho (Original Ramen Alley) remains the go-to for miso ramen. Nijo Market and the Central Wholesale Market serve kaisen-don topped with Hokkaido crab, uni, and ikura.
Entry Requirements
- Japan has visa exemption agreements with 74 countries and regions as of September 2025. Most visa-free nationals can stay up to 90 days for tourism; nationals not on the list must apply at a Japanese embassy or consulate before travel.
- All visitors must complete the Visit Japan Web online registration before arrival to receive QR codes for Immigration and Customs. A passport valid for the entire stay and a confirmed return or onward ticket are required.
- As of June 2026, the yen trades around 159 to 161 per USD. The best way to get yen is to withdraw from 7-Eleven (Seven Bank) ATMs, which offer near-interbank rates. Always pay in JPY when using cards and decline dynamic currency conversion.
Weather & Seasons
- January is Sapporo's coldest month, with highs of -1 to 0°C (30-32°F) and lows reaching -9 to -6°C (16-21°F). August is the warmest, with highs of 23 to 28°C (73-82°F).
- The city receives 400 to 600 cm of annual snowfall, with continuous cover from December through March. Peak snow months are January and February, when depth reaches 65 to 75 cm.
- Unlike the rest of Japan, Sapporo and Hokkaido have no rainy season. Summers are comfortable with low humidity and temperatures rarely exceeding 27°C. The Snow Festival in February drives peak hotel demand, while cherry blossoms arrive late April to early May, later than mainland Japan.
