For our second-to-last night in Ho Chi Minh City, we decided to stay at Piano Hotel. As the name suggests, one of the main reasons I chose this hotel was the piano on the premises. As someone who loves playing the piano, how could I resist a hotel with such a simple yet appealing name?
What pleasantly surprised me was just how much value this hotel offers for its price. The room rates are very affordable, yet the experience goes well beyond what I would typically expect in this price range. One particularly lovely touch was the made-to-order breakfast prepared especially for us, making the stay feel much more personal. Check-in was quick and hassle-free, and the staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming.
We booked the last available room type that included breakfast for two. It was a relatively small room with internal windows facing the hallway, which was not the most ideal arrangement. Nevertheless, the room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was equally well maintained.
I particularly appreciated the practical details. The refrigerator was slightly larger than those found in many other hotels, and there was sufficient space for our clothes and luggage. Power outlets were conveniently positioned around the room, making it easy to charge our gadgets and use our appliances. The water pressure was excellent, and both the room and bathroom had solid doors, a feature I rarely encounter in hotels at this price point.
Another thoughtful addition was the key-card-accessible storage for keeping our important belongings secure. The dressing table was also reasonably spacious and doubled as a convenient workstation when we needed to get some work done.
Breakfast was delicious, and the complimentary coffee and tea were a welcome bonus. There was also a nice selection of accompaniments, including milk, honey, condensed milk, and chocolate, which went particularly well with the pancakes. I even noticed a Bose speaker on one of the countertops, which I imagine is occasionally used to provide some background music.
Of course, the highlight for me came after breakfast. I finally had the opportunity to sit down at the piano and play a few tunes. It was a lovely moment, and seeing the other guests enjoy the music made the experience even more special.
Piano Hotel is a wonderful example of getting the fundamentals right. It may not offer the spacious rooms or luxurious facilities of a high-end hotel, but it makes up for that with excellent value, cleanliness, thoughtful amenities, delicious breakfast, and genuinely warm hospitality.
For travelers looking for an affordable hotel in Ho Chi Minh City that delivers more than the basics, Piano Hotel is well worth considering. And if you happen to be a piano lover like me, having a piano waiting for you after breakfast makes the stay all the more memorable.
