Wolfgangsee Lake

Wolfgangsee Lakeis located in the Salzkammergut lake region of Austria and is a long, narrow alpine lake surrounded by mountains. The Schafberg on the north shore and the continuous mountain ranges to the south frame the lake, making it appear clear and expansive. The opening aerial shots of the film *The Sound of Music* were filmed here, and the bright, sweeping views over the lake have made it an iconic scene of the Austrian lake district for many fans. The towns of Sankt Gilgen, St. Wolfgang, and Strobl are located along the shore, each preserving the traditional charm of the Alpine foothills and together creating a leisurely travel atmosphere in the lake region.
