The photos on Ctrip are completely misleading; they showed a room with a direct castle view, but all I got was a tiny window where I could only glimpse the tip of the castle's spires, and only if I climbed onto the sofa. The soundproofing in the room is abysmal; I could clearly hear the two elevators going up and down right outside my door. The room layout was strange, with the vanity and bedroom right by the entrance, so every passerby's footsteps were clearly audible. The sink drained incredibly slowly, practically clogged. Even after reporting it and having someone come to fix it, it remained the same. The bathroom lacked a separate air conditioner, making showers quite cold. There were no mouthwash cups either. The most ridiculous part was when my child finished an ice cream, and I asked the concierge at the entrance where the trash can was, he actually pointed to a street corner across the road and told us to throw it there. Does this hotel not have its own trash cans? To top it all off, the fire alarm went off twice during our one-night stay, and the front desk phone was perpetually unreachable. I wanted to inquire about the reason for the alarms, but I simply couldn't get through. I spent a very restless night. The next morning, as I was leaving, I found a letter slipped under the door explaining the reason for the alarms from the previous night. There's no separate shower stall, just a handheld showerhead over the bathtub, with very low water pressure, making showering inconvenient. I heard this used to be a Waldorf Astoria, and honestly, being delisted was inevitable.

Although there was a minor hiccup at the start, after some communication, everything was understood and resolved amicably. The hotel is conveniently located about a ten-minute walk from Edinburgh. There's a bus stop right across the street, making transportation incredibly easy. The bedding is super soft and comfortable, and breakfast is also good. I recommend this hotel, but be sure to keep an eye on your emails and reconfirm your reservation two days before check-in to avoid any misunderstandings (this hotel has a no-cancellation policy after booking).

Excellent location, next to Edinburgh Castle. It is a very old hotel with good facilities, a small swimming pool and sauna. A family of three checked in and the front desk gave us a family room with a separate small bed. The view outside the window is also good. There is a bathtub and capsule coffee. There is TESCO downstairs, which is very convenient for shopping. Such a good room, buy some beer and drink it in the room, it's really not too good ☺️ The breakfast on the first floor is very good 35 pounds per person. The main meal must be told to the waiter separately, which is included in the 35 pounds. This hotel has hosted members of the British royal family. There are photos in the restaurant on the first floor. It takes 15 minutes to walk to Cardington Hill. You can see Edinburgh Castle all the way. The surrounding core scenic spots are 15 minutes walk, which is great! A very satisfactory stay experience 👍👍👍
