I stayed at the famous 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat with high expectations, but ended up completely furious. I genuinely advise everyone: there is absolutely no need to spend a night up here for this ridiculous price. You will have a much more comfortable and pleasant experience staying at a hotel down in the valley!Here are the major dealbreakers from my stay:Missing Basic Amenities: There wasn't even a basic pair of slippers provided in the room! For a high-altitude mountain hotel where the floors are freezing cold, it is unbelievable that a hotel at this price point fails to offer basic slippers.Zero Medical Emergency Support (Dangerous for Altitude Sickness): The hotel sits at over 3,100 metres, and we suffered from severe altitude sickness. When we asked the hotel for help, they didn't even have any altitude sickness medication on hand! What’s worse was the staff's utterly cold and indifferent attitude—they actually told us to "re-book a train/ride to go back down the mountain to buy medicine ourselves." Expecting guests to navigate transportation down a mountain while feeling extremely ill in an unfamiliar place shows a complete lack of empathy. It is borderline dangerous and jeopardizes guest safety.Terrible Dining with Zero Choice: Since the hotel is isolated on a peak, dinner is your only option. However, there was absolutely no choice for dinner. When the fixed menu didn't suit us, we asked if we could pay extra to order something else, but they refused—even if you want to pay more, there are no alternative options. The kitchen is completely inflexible.We paid an astronomical room rate only to be met with a lack of comfort, zero safety assurances, and a frustrating dining experience. You can find beautiful mountain views anywhere, but paying a premium just to suffer this kind of service is completely unnecessary. Strongly NOT recommended!
