3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat

I was first surprised by the water pressure in the shower, considering this is a hotel in the mountains. Whether I made the water hot or cold, the pressure remained consistently strong, which was impressive. I also requested a room with a Matterhorn view, and it was a fantastic room with a balcony. Even though it was just a one-night stay, I was very satisfied.

This hotel is built on a mountaintop, and there aren't very clear road signs at night. On top of that, it's quite expensive and highly dependent on the weather and luck. If you're unlucky, you won't see anything, even if you have a mountain-view room facing the Matterhorn, haha. However, the dinner and breakfast at this hotel are both excellent. Considering how difficult it is to find good food in Switzerland, this was actually quite good. I just hope I have better luck next time and get to see the Matterhorn. Although I saw it later in the afternoon at the ski resort, I didn't get to see it from my room in the morning.

A truly unique experience on Earth! Plus, the hotel environment, service, and buffet are all quite decent. 💯

The room was incredibly spacious with breathtaking views from the window. The bathroom had a bathtub, and the shower pressure was surprisingly strong for a high-altitude location, which was very comfortable. The breakfast and dinner, included with the stay, were different every day and delicious. Catching the sunrise in the morning is an exclusive experience for guests, and on the last day, I even got to see the 'Morgenrot' (alpenglow), which was absolutely amazing. On Thursday evenings, there's a free stargazing event with commentary from University of Bern researchers, where you can admire the beautiful night sky through the hotel's top-floor telescope.

I specifically booked a room with a Matterhorn view, but was extremely disappointed to find a metal scaffolding directly obstructing the view from my window. The hotel did not notify or explain this either prior to my arrival or during check-in. Furthermore, the dinner main course offered no options, consisting only of cheese, pickles, and three small potatoes.
