Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid

I didn't realize it before, but the hotel's location is excellent – think Beijing's Sanlitun or Chengdu's Chunxi Road. You step out right into a bustling street with shops and restaurants everywhere. Even though the hotel is ten years old, it's very well-maintained. The rooms are spacious, and the staff are warm and friendly. But the breakfast – I have to rave about it! It's a buffet plus à la carte, seriously a hundred times better than any brunch you'd find outside! It's also within walking distance of Plaza Mayor, the Grand Palace, and Our Lady's Church. Perfect for a family trip with shopping, dining, and an old town city walk.

The room layout is similar to a budget hotel in China, with minimal and cheap amenities. The room wasn't clean; on the first night, I found unwashed coffee cups! On another day, they completely forgot to clean the room. Paying 2000-3000 a night during Chinese New Year was definitely not worth it. Pros: Great location, comparable to Nanjing East Road in Shanghai, with plenty of dining options nearby. However, getting a taxi can be a hassle due to heavy traffic. The 30+ square meter room is quite family-friendly for those traveling with children.

The environment is fantastic, right on the main shopping street, making it super convenient to get around. You can easily walk to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, and there are tons of great food options nearby. Oh, and the hotel breakfast is amazing – easily one of the best in all of Madrid!
