Shangri-La Half View Vacation Homestay (Near the Giant Prayer Wheel, Dukezong Ancient City)

Staying at such a heartwarming guesthouse made my entire trip so relaxing and therapeutic. The owner even went out of their way early in the morning to pick up my express delivery a kilometer away, and the housekeeper always wore a warm smile—her rice noodles were absolutely amazing. The couple running the guesthouse are full of genuine hospitality and constantly attentive to their guests' needs. You can definitely book this place with confidence; it will truly enhance your journey! Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed, and it adds so much color to your travels!

The hotel room environment is fantastic, featuring whole-house smart voice control. Since the weather in Shangri-La is quite cold, the room is well-equipped with whole-house floor heating, a humidifier, and an oxygen supply. The all-day complimentary breakfast, coffee, and ginger tea are such thoughtful touches, and the service is excellent too!

The room was exceptionally large, the service was fantastic, and it's very close to the attractions. The room decor is stunningly beautiful. They also provide a pick-up and drop-off service, and the front desk staff were wonderful. We had such a comfortable and pleasant stay in Shangri-La. There is also a viewing platform where you can see the ancient town—it's breathtaking and so relaxing.

There's a wide array of accommodation options in the ancient town, and after much deliberation, I chose this guesthouse, which is very close to it. **[Location]** It's located outside the restricted zone, down a small alley, making it easily accessible by car. This area is mostly similar guesthouses, typically three-story buildings. It's about a 10-minute walk to Guishan Park, with plenty of eateries along the way. **[Facilities]** For the price, the facilities are excellent. The room is equipped with a humidifier, oxygen concentrator, smart speaker (Xiao Du), and a projector. There's no external white noise, but at night you might hear some faint water running sounds or a hairdryer from neighboring rooms. **[Service]** Both the hostess and host are quite welcoming, and they're good at providing basic information and resolving issues. **[Environment]** The design is thoughtful, with red walls, though the common areas are a bit dim. **[Breakfast]** After several days of heavy beef and lamb dishes on my trip, the light breakfast of steamed buns, corn, watermelon, and rice noodles was perfect. The soy milk was a bit diluted. **[Airport Transfer, Key Service]** They offer one free airport pick-up or drop-off. The driver, perhaps assuming I was tired after a 10-minute ride, parked in the parking lot (even after I suggested going to the departure entrance). He very thoughtfully let me walk a few steps with my luggage, encouraging me to get some exercise, which showed great consideration for the passenger. A big thank you and thumbs up to that driver! **[Other]** The view from this room type is as pictured – you can see the neighboring terrace, and from a high vantage point, you can see far. Standard check-out is 12 PM; if you need a late check-out, you'll need to communicate with the host in advance.

Breakfast was average. Cleanliness: Clean, tidy, and very comfortable to stay in. Service: They proactively offered pick-up and drop-off services, and helping with the luggage was very convenient. Facilities: There is a projector, and the bathroom has a wet and dry separation, making it feel very fresh. Minibar: None

The owner was incredibly welcoming. The room was very spacious and well-equipped with everything we needed, including oxygen, underfloor heating, and lots of smart devices. The pick-up and drop-off service was also excellent. We had an unexpected scooter breakdown during our tour around the lake, and the owner came to our rescue promptly, which we really appreciated. 😂

The guesthouse is located inside the ancient town. It can get a bit congested if you arrive in the evening, as the roads are quite narrow. However, the owner guided us via video call, so it wasn't hard to find. Dining, entertainment, and travel photography services are all easily accessible. The room is equipped with floor heating and oxygen supply, so there's no need to worry about altitude sickness.
