Great location and wonderful facilities. The whole hotel is tatami mag and no shoes allowed. They are left at the front lobby area with shoe lockers provided. Sockets and Japanese pyjamas provided. They also provide an the yukata with overcoat which can be worn outside the hotel as well....giving a traditional feel to the stay. We booked room with on sen in it. Outside the room, there is choice of public and private on sen. My wife and I are able to enjoy the private bath experiencing the cool autumn weather. I can imagine how wonderful it will be if it's snowing outside.

The dinner served there was kaiseiki course. Seems like the main dish is beef so if you have food restrictions you may want to let the hotel know in advance. The food was pretty with various tastes. Cream cheese with crackers was the best one so try that! The breakfast was good too. Eating with the nice view was also one of the great experiences here.

A nice Japanese Onsen hotel. Most guests have dinner at the hotel. We chose to eat outside which was not a lot of choice. Luckily we found two good restaurants around the corner: 紅葉亭蕎麥麵Kouyoutei for lunch and Matsuo Beer & Restaurant 松尾ジンギスカン 定山渓支店. The hotel gave us entrance tickets for JOZANKEI NATURE LUMINARIE (2026 6/1-10/31) at 定山溪神社Jozankei Shrine, 10 mins walk from the hotel.

Very beautiful place, the interior design is super Japanese, the room is Japanese style and with tatami. The jozankei town is a small town and quiet, with enough restaurants and lake to travel around, like the Sapporo lake dam and jozan lake dam.

Enjoyed the Ryokan and Onsen, service provided by the staff was excellent and we were there just nice for a light show at the nearby shrine! The Kaiseki and breakfast was a worthy top up. Overall experience was great and will definitely be back for more.

It was quite crowded, and we had to wait for meals. My friends and I went there specifically to take photos in the yukata, but they were given out on a first-come, first-served basis, and by the time we got there, they were all gone. That was a bit disappointing. They should really have enough yukata for guests with reservations for that day or at least inform them beforehand... The hot spring itself was just so-so.

The room is very clean and cosy. I really love the service and the design of the room. The free noodle at night is delicious as well 👍

The hotel room did not come cheap, but overall, we had a pleasant stay aside from a hiccup during check-in when the staff forgot to inform us that our room was ready and kept us waiting. The public onsen was great and we spent more time there than the private in-room onsen. The free ice-creams, drinks and ramen (during supper time) were delightful touches. Pillow gallery offered options of different types of pillows was great! The hotel is shoes-free, meaning one has to remove our shoes and store in the lockers at the entrance and move around shoeless or in the tabi socks provided. The yukata pyjamas provided were comfortable, so were the beds. The use of sliding doors meant one will not hear of slamming of room doors by other guests. It is a cosy hotel to stay in. What we did not like was the lack of a sheltered drop-off point to unload our luggages and the sensor lights at the hallway of the room. As it could not be dimmed or switched off, it would light up brightly when going to the toilet in the middle of the night.
