Holiday Inn Express OSAKA CITY CENTRE - MIDOSUJI by IHG

This hotel is right next to Namba Shrine and super close to the W Osaka hotel; I could always find it by looking for the W hotel's sign. It's also very near Shinsaibashi, about a 20-minute walk to the iconic Glico Running Man sign and only about 15 minutes to the liveliest shopping area. There are plenty of convenience stores and various small shops nearby, making shopping and dining incredibly easy. The room, as expected, was 'Japanese-style compact' (read: on the smaller side 😂), but impeccably clean. The bidet was a great bonus. The hot water was wonderfully soothing – perfect for unwinding after a long day out. As a relatively new hotel in Japan, the internet speed was excellent, suitable for both work and streaming. The breakfast, while not as varied as some domestic hotels, was more than satisfying for my needs. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and I would definitely come back if I have the chance.

The room cleaning service schedule was a bit odd. They didn't clean the room all day while I was out sightseeing, but then they knocked on the door to clean around 4 or 5 PM when I was back at the hotel resting. Also, the breakfast selection was limited, and you had to queue to get into the restaurant during peak hours, making it feel a bit crowded. On the positive side, the hotel's location was quite convenient, very close to Shinsaibashi, and the nearby Minami-Senba area was also worth exploring.

The location is ideal, close to the M subway line, making it a great base for exploring Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Kyoto, and Uji. Shinsaibashi shopping center is also within walking distance. The hotel room is a good size and well-equipped. The breakfast is delicious. Highly recommended!

The overall environment is pretty good and clean. However, you have to ask the front desk for many of the disposable items. The soundproofing is average, and the internet is terrible – very slow. The location, though, is excellent.

Why did they give us a room on the 14th floor? For our entire 3-day stay, we were the only Chinese guests, and the room was so small we couldn't even open our luggage. The service wasn't as warm as the Holiday Inn Tokyo. Even though I'm an IHG member, they didn't register my membership when I showed my card, nor did they tell us there was a coffee machine on the 3rd floor. Breakfast on the 2nd floor was chaotic. We had to pay the departure tax on the day we checked in. The navigation for Honmachi Station exits was completely inaccurate; we ended up coming out of Exit 9, which made us walk around Shinsaibashi market. My Apple navigation also stopped working on the day we arrived, so I had to walk from the hotel to the Apple store in Osaka to get help from the staff. I saw on some social media that Google Maps has been having similar issues recently. There were also tour groups staying at this hotel.

The room was clean, tidy, and quiet, with convenient transport links nearby. The breakfast spread was excellent and the surroundings were beautiful. Next time I'm in Osaka, I'll definitely choose a high-floor room again to enjoy the panoramic city views overlooking Shinsaibashi.

The room was small but very clean, perfect for one adult and one child. It's close to the subway station and Shinsaibashi is nearby, making it super convenient for shopping. Since it's a special time, the hotel wasn't very busy. We had a late flight, and they kindly offered us a late checkout.
