Hot Springs in Hakone

5.5

Hakone is known as the "hometown of hot springs" and has rich hot spring resources. There are many kinds of hot springs here, including sulfur springs, iron springs, carbonated springs, etc. Each hot spring has its own unique therapeutic effects, such as relieving fatigue, promoting blood circulation, and relieving muscle soreness. In Hakone, tourists can experience various types of hot spring facilities. For example, in addition to traditional open-air hot springs, there are also special hot springs such as Japan's first coffee hot springs and skin-beautifying wine hot springs. These hot spring facilities not only allow tourists to enjoy hot springs while also experience different cultural atmospheres and fun. The natural scenery of Hakone is also a beautiful scenery that cannot be missed when taking a hot spring bath. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent scenery of Mount Fuji, and the natural scenery with distinct four seasons adds a different mood to the hot spring bath. You can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, green trees in summer, red leaves all over the mountains in autumn, and picturesque snow in winter. Each season has its own unique charm. Yunessun Hot Spring & Pool Resort: As a comprehensive hot spring resort, it features swimming pools, outdoor hot springs, and various themed baths. With comfortable facilities and a relaxing environment, it is ideal for families and groups to enjoy both bathing and aquatic fun. Yumoto Onsen: Located in Hakone's historic hot spring district, it is home to numerous traditional inns and public baths. The serene and elegant atmosphere allows visitors to experience authentic Japanese bathing culture and nostalgic charm.

186 reviews

The large glass windows of the Swiss-made gondola offer a 360-degree view of Hakone, making it hard to believe that this place is only a few hours from Tokyo. The station on the way is Owakudani Station, which is a well-known hot spring area where you can still see traces of volcanic activity in addition to overlooking Mount Fuji. The Hakone Ropeway is designed to be barrier-free, both in the carriages and at the station. Along the way, you can pass by Owakudani and Laozi, and you can get a bird's-eye view of the forest between Soun Mountain and Taoyuantai by Lake Ashi. At the heights between Soun Mountain and Dawong Valley, the cable car is 130 meters above the ground. The huge crater can be seen below, which is breathtaking. As you get closer to Umako and Togendai, you can see the panoramic view of Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji behind Mount Kinabalu and the four seasons from the cable car.

4.6/5
155 reviews

Hakone is known for its hot springs, but Hakone Kowakien Yunessun is no ordinary hot spring resort! This facility, which combines an amusement park and a spa resort, allows you to play in your swimsuit and offers a variety of hot springs that you can't experience at home. Be sure to try some unusual hot springs, such as wine baths, green tea baths, and coffee baths. If you book a package that includes access to the authentic "Mori no Yu" hot spring, you can relax and soak in various baths, including indoor baths, open-air baths, and ceramic baths. They also have private baths available, so be sure to use them with your family or friends. Soaking in a bath while gazing at the magnificent nature of Hakone is sure to relax both your mind and body. The dome, which depicts the Mediterranean sky, can be visited anytime without worrying about the weather. How about spending a luxurious day relaxing in a hot spring while enjoying the view of the Hakone outer rim mountains? I'd love to try a wine bath at least once! Japan's first coffee bath using a coarse-groundネルドリップ (nel drip) method with low-temperature extraction in a hot spring.

Hakone Shrine was founded in 757 AD by Master Manjuan on Mt. Hakone, a holy place of mountain beliefs. It was worshipped by many military commanders such as Minamoto Yoritomo and Tokugawa Ieyasu. It is a historical shrine. Hakone Shrine is a well-known shrine that has been revered as the chief guardian of Hakone Daigoen since ancient times. Owakudani
No. 13 of Best Things to Do in Kanagawa Prefecture

Owakudani

4.9
4.6/5
633 reviews

Owakudani is a volcanic vent zone formed by Hakone volcanic activity approx. 3,000 years ago, with brown and yellow rocks exposed on the slopes, white steam constantly rising from springs and fumaroles, and the air filled with the scent of sulfur. It is also an important source for Hakone hot springs, where you can still see active geothermal phenomena today. There is an observation deck near the cable car station, from which you can see Mount Fuji and Mt. Kamiyama on clear days. The Kuro-tamago-kan showcases the process of making "black eggs" using hot spring water and geothermal steam, where the eggshells turn black due to a chemical reaction with the hot spring components, and there is a local legend that eating one can extend your life by seven years. The facility also includes a souvenir shop. The Owakudani Nature Trail is approx. 700m long, allowing you to observe the volcanic vent zone up close and learn about the volcanic geology through information boards along the way. The observation deck at the end of the trail offers views of the Hakone mountains and Mount Fuji.

The Glass Forest Art Museum in Kanagawa Prefecture is located in the rolling hills of Hakone. The main building resembles a European medieval villa, like a fairy tale world. There are art galleries, shops and cafés in this vast garden. The gallery houses about 100 works from Venice and modern Venice from the 15th to the 19th centuries. In addition, many valuable works such as cobalt blue goblets handed down by the Rothschild family are on display. Its amazing is the fireworks tree Fontana fountain, the fireworks tree shining in the sun, the sparkling trees, springs, waterfalls are all made of glass balls one by one, the whole art museum looks very delicate and beautiful. The open-air café overlooks a courtyard reminiscent of medieval Venice, where authentic Canzona instrumental works are played live. There is also a workshop where you can experience glass craftsmanship.

Lake Ashi is beautiful. This time, I saw Mount Fuji every day. The blue sky and white clouds offered a distant view of Mount Fuji, and I could also see the Hakone Shrine floating on the water. According to the introduction, Lake Ashi is the most beautiful crater lake in Hakone.

We booked the ticket on the day we travel going to Yunessan it was an easy and quick transaction. During weekends they starts by 9 am until 7pm. We reach there early so we roam around nearby facilities. Staffs are great and helpful. English speaking are also available. Inside they have a big lockers to change into swimwear. Free and paid place to rest. Nearby convenience store and restaurants are available but tend to be very busy. Great place for family. You can bring your cp inside but don’t forget to bring a plastic pouch cover for your cp because its expensive to by inside. Shampoo and conditioner and body soap and blowers are available as well. Parking are also available free for 2 hours and 1600 yen after that. Great budget friendly onsen pool. If you want the traditional onsen you can pay extra.

The garden landscape of the Glass Forest Art Museum is really amazing! Entering the art museum, you can see the amazing Fontana fountain, the sparkling trees, springs, and waterfalls are all made of glass balls, shining in the sun. The crystal porch made of crystal bead curtains makes people linger, and the strange glass installation stands quietly in the center of the lake, attracting the attention of every traveler. The medieval European-style architecture adds a fairy-tale romantic color to the entire garden. There are all kinds of lifelike flowers and plants made of glass in the garden, which is very novel! Okay, I can't write a small essay anymore, let's take a look at the pictures? The indoor exhibition is glass products from Venice from the 15th to the 19th century and glass products by contemporary artists in Venice. In fact, I am not very interested in them, although they are very exquisite. But the beautiful garden landscape is really worth it for fairies to come and check in and take pictures. Ca Glass Forest Art Museum closes at 5:30. Fairies who want to arrange a day to see the exhibition can first visit the nearby Sculpture Forest and Pola Art Museum, and finally come here.
