The Great Buddha of Kamakura, a Buddhist statue within Kotoku-in Temple and a major symbol of ancient Kamakura, is designated a National Treasure of Japan. Dating back to the Kamakura period in 1252, this bronze statue stands approximately 11.3 meters tall and weighs 121 tons, making it the second largest bronze Buddha in Japan after the one at Todai-ji Temple in Nara. Entering the Great Buddha through the Niomon Gate on the south side, after washing your hands at the tesumi (purification fountain), you'll step into the central courtyard where the colossal Great Buddha comes into view. This Amitabha Buddha sits serenely on a high platform, its face and posture reflecting the style of Chinese Song Dynasty Buddhist statues popular during the Kamakura period. Visiting during cherry blossom season, under the blue sky and white clouds, the Great Buddha takes on an even more special charm. The Great Buddha of Kamakura was originally made of wood, but collapsed after a storm. It was later recast in bronze, and it is said that its entire body was covered in gold leaf and enshrined in the Great Buddha Hall. Because a tsunami during the Muromachi period swallowed the Great Buddha Hall, the Kamakura Great Buddha has since sat alone on an open-air pedestal. Around the cloister centered on the Great Buddha, you can see various stone tablets related to it, including one inscribed with the phrase "Shakyamuni is a handsome man." Inside the cloister facing the Great Buddha to the right, hangs a pair of large straw sandals about 1 meter long, said to be offerings woven by children from Ibaraki Prefecture. Continuing towards the back of the mountain, you can take photos of the Great Buddha from different angles, and there is also a Kanjuro-do Hall dedicated to Kannon (Avalokitesvara).

It is worth going with two kids, one five and one six years old. We bought amusement park passes and rode several projects twice. The kids played until dark before going home. Seeing the kids happy, mom and dad felt it was worth it.

Enoshima is accessible by train, and the tour is free. I don't think the elevator is necessary if you can climb something like Yuexiu Mountain, but if you have children, they seem to be free, so you might as well buy an adult elevator ticket. There are several shrines and an observation tower up there. There's a place selling local snacks like bread and octopus cakes (which are also sold down below). I think there are hot springs and hotels in the island area, as well as open-air bars and cafes, which seemed quite nice. I took a quick tour, which took about an hour, including crossing the bridge. I wouldn't recommend expecting to see Mount Fuji; it was hazy.

The Enoden, a vintage tram from Kanagawa Prefecture, is a must-ride when visiting Kamakura. A one-day pass is available for 800 yen for adults and 400 yen for children; Suica cards are accepted. If you're not going to many places, a one-day pass isn't necessary. The line runs from Fujisawa Station to Kamakura Station. At several stations, there were no staff members present; it's all about honesty and trustworthiness.

Buying the ticket via Trip is possible to be cheaper than buying from the ticket office there. Lately there is a newborn dolphin and it was so cuteeee. If anyone go there around this time, i really recommended to see the baby dolphin. Also, another popular thing from this aquarium is the Jellyfish zone. Don’t forget to see it!

Kotoku-in Temple is one of Japan's most iconic cultural attractions, located in the charming coastal city of Kamakura. The temple is best known for its magnificent Great Buddha (Daibutsu), an impressive bronze statue that beautifully represents Japanese Buddhist heritage. Surrounded by peaceful greenery and a relaxing atmosphere, the temple offers visitors a wonderful opportunity to appreciate history, spirituality, and traditional architecture. The impressive statue and scenic surroundings create excellent photography opportunities and make every visit memorable. It is an ideal destination for history enthusiasts, culture lovers, and international travelers. Overall, Kotoku-in is a must-visit attraction when exploring Kamakura and discovering the beauty of Japan! 🇯🇵✨

Walking day trip at Kamakura , a very popular temple for a reason. There is a beautiful promenade between the station and shrine. It is easy to access and has good signs. There are nice toilets and a museum. The shrine itself can be busy, so if you want to go inside and do blessings, be prepared to wait a little. Overall very beautiful and worth seeing. It is a Shinto shrine established in 11th century, built in 1828 in the traditional Edo architectural style. Will visit again because here have a lot nearby temple we haven't finish for 1 days trip.

Restaurant: Sugi Bee Garden Address: 2-8-12 Komachi, Kamakura City Honey shop in shopping district Shops selling natural honey products, including honey drinks and ice cream with different flavors🍦, are very attractive. The store is bright and bright, making people feel comfortable. I ordered a cup of honey ice cream🍦 and it was only $350 yen, which was a great value. The ice cream was turned around four times, the portion was not small, the taste was slightly sweet, and the texture was cottony and smooth.

There are many people surfing, the sea breeze is very strong, it relieves the summer heat, it is very comfortable, and I found that the people here are very dark. It sounds very beautiful just by the name, and it is very fresh when you take a picture.

One of Japan's beautiful coastlines, when the weather is clear, you can see Mount Fuji in the distance from Zushi Beach. This is also where the Ryonan High School and many seaside scenes in "Slam Dunk" were filmed.

In 721 AD, the monk Tokudō Shonin commissioned two statues of the Eleven-Faced Guanyin to be made from the same camphor tree. One was sent to Nara for worship, and the other was thrown into the sea as a sacrifice. 15 years later, the Guanyin statue that was thrown into the sea was washed up on the Kamakura coast by the tide, and later Hasedera Temple was built to worship it. To this day, the main statue of the Eleven-Faced Guanyin at Hasedera Temple is the largest wooden Buddha statue in Japan. The environment of the temple is very good, with a Japanese garden atmosphere, and you can also see the sea of Kamakura.
