Destination: Enfield, NY
If you’re chasing some serious upstate New York nature vibes, Robert H. Treman State Park in Enfield is your go-to! 🌲💦 Trails, epic waterfalls, and dramatic gorges make it a paradise for all levels of hikers. Here’s why you’ll love it and how to max out your visit:
Must-See Spot:
Robert H. Treman State Park – 105 Enfield Falls Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850
Open year-round, 7:00–21:00
Don’t miss Lucifer Falls: this 115-foot cascade looks unreal in person! Park at Upper Entrance for easiest falls access and sweeping views. There are also scenic swimming holes (opposite the Lower Falls, usually open late June-Labour Day if lifeguards are present). Gorge and Rim trails loop you through postcard-perfect woodlands and rocky cliffs, with plenty of photo ops.
Pro Tips:
Arrive early to beat the crowds and snag the best parking, especially on weekends. Wear solid hiking shoes – trails can get muddy or slippery. Bring a day pack with snacks and water. There’s a $9 vehicle entrance fee (card or cash, pay at the gate or kiosk). In summer, bring a swimsuit for a dip.
Wifi/Signal? Pretty patchy—download maps ahead and go offline for a digital detox!
How to Get There:
Car is your best bet—NY Route 13 is the main road from Ithaca (about 15 mins drive). You can use ride-shares but they might be unreliable on return, so plan accordingly.
Where to Eat:
Grab picnic supplies in nearby Ithaca or hit downtown after your hike—Collegetown Bagels and Ithaca Bakery are both tasty.
