🌞 Linz surprised me with chill vibes and some city luxury—yes, even snagging a deal at a Rolex shop if you’re lucky! If you want a smooth blend of scenic Austrian charm, solid food, and a touch of adventure, this spot is seriously underrated.

Top Spots to Visit:
1️⃣ Stay at Best Western Hotel Spinnerei Linz (Wiener Str. 485). Super clean, friendly staff, and spotless rooms. Bonus: pet lovers, bring your furry friends free of charge! If you’re driving, parking is available (with a small fee). There’s also a great local restaurant nearby—perfect for grabbing a relaxed meal.
2️⃣ Hop on the iconic Postlingbergbahn tram from Linz city center. Take this historic line for epic hillside views, winding past pretty neighborhoods until you reach the top.
3️⃣ Up on the hill, tour Pöstlingbergkirche Wallfahrtsbasilika Sieben Schmerzen Maria (Am Poestlingberg 1). This basilica is gorgeously ornate both inside and out. Don’t skip snapping the Linz panorama from here—the whole town spills out under you, ideal for a coffee break or just chilling out.

Travel Tips:
- Lunch with a View: Treat yourself to lunch at a hilltop spot on Pöstlingberg for full scenery and fresh air (especially good after a morning of exploring!).
- Getting Around: The trams and local buses are frequent and reliable. Grab a day pass if you’re planning to hop off and on.
- Shop Hack: If shopping for luxury while in town, check with the Rolex retail shop—you might score an exclusive offer!
- All-weather ready: I got a mix of sunshine and showers—layers work best for quick changes.

Just wrapped up a 13-day family adventure looping Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, Munich, Innsbruck, and back to Vienna 🏔️⛪ If you love a mix of imperial bling and chill city squares, this Austria trip is for you! Here’s what stood out in Vienna and Linz.

Top Spots to Visit:
Linz’s main square (Hauptpl., 4020 Linz) – Open all day, year-round. Great for soaking in old-school Austrian vibes, people-watching, and grabbing pastries at cafes scattered around.
Dreifaltigkeitssaule (Trinity Column), right on Linz’s main square, is a stunning outdoor landmark for a quick cultural selfie stop.
Imperial Treasury Vienna (Schweizerhof, Hofburg, 1010 Wien) – Gems galore! Open 09:00–17:30 (last admission 17:00), closed Tuesdays. The ticket price’s a bit steep, but the ancient jewels and crown collections really wowed my family.
HOFBURG Vienna Eventlocation (Heldenplatz, 1010 Wien) – Visits here make you feel the full weight of imperial palace history. The square outside is also perfect for family photos!
Mozart Monument (Josefsplatz 1, 1010 Wien) – Always open for a breezy walk, with statues amid sunny gardens or cloudy drama. Tip: Go during golden hour for epic shots with Western-style architecture and mountain backdrops.

Travel Tips:
Getting around? Train connections between cities are super efficient. If you’re city-hopping, the ÖBB Railjet is fast and wifi-equipped. In Vienna/Linz, trams are smooth, frequent, and cheap.
For food: Try Linzer Torte in Linz cafés, and the Wiener Schnitzel at Vienna’s traditional restaurants like Figlmüller.
Pack layers – Austrian weather flips from sunny to rainy fast, especially near the mountains.
Cash is handy for smaller eateries, but cards work almost everywhere central.
