I choose hotels near metro stations for our Japanese tour and the Super is 2 minutes from the metro in Akabane.
Although, in the north of central Tokyo, it was only fifteen minutes by direct train to Shinyuku and one change for Haneda airport.
We loved the hotel and the area of Akabane as it gave us a true Tokyo / Japanese feel as it did not have many foreign tourists.
The staff are super friendly, and Yoshi was our star as he always helped us with many questions.
The room was very small, even by Japanese standards and required some furniture re-arrangement, but was cosy.
Breakfast was just out of this world, so fresh, healthy, traditional Japanese ( I wanted local not western food as I am in Japan. It really felt like it was a lunch or even a dinner and we loved every mouthful. The head of the kitchen would come out at close to 09:00hours to state if you take food pleases eat before the end of the day to ensure it stays fresh.
The hotel has an onsen (traditional Japanese hot pool) for relaxation, we only used it on the last day and I wish we had of used earlier, it is wonderful, so relaxing and I felt the world lift off me as I lay in the pool, I slept so well that night.
The hotel does a social event from 17-21 hours cocktail bar - but you serve yourself. A lovely concept of having a few drinks to unwind in the evening - there are spirits to make your favourite cocktails, various sakes and wines (red and white) - I found it superb, maybe a little music to help with the mood and a few snacks to nibble on - crackers for example.
Literally, 3-5 minute walk away was the Izakaya district, as Akabane is one of Tokyo's most famous drinking neighbourhoods — famous within Japan, International visitors almost never make it here, not because it's hidden but because it's not on the tourist circuit, and nobody has told us to go, everyone stays in Shinyuku. This was heaven for us, we love to explore with the locals, drink and eat what they have and try to make conversation - it is literally little narrow pedestrian streets with many little bars to explore. We loved it.
Did we like the hotel, yes we loved it and would whole-heartedly recommend.
