A Wonderful Stay at Songzhuju Hotel! We stayed at the Songzhuju Hotel for 6 nights and were thoroughly delighted with both the accommodation and the city of Lijiang. Even before our arrival, we felt the genuine care from the staff. Ah Fei contacted us in advance and arranged a transfer from the railway station the day before check-in. Upon arrival, he welcomed us with a traditional tea ceremony and treats, gave us a helpful overview of the hotel, and shared useful information about the city via WeChat. Ah Fei was always available and ready to assist with any questions. In fact, the entire hotel staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly. The hotel itself is excellent. We loved its location within the Ancient City, not far from the North Gate. This made it easy and quick to walk out to the main road to catch a taxi (since vehicles are not allowed inside the Ancient City), while still being immersed in the old town atmosphere. Importantly, it wasn’t in the busiest tourist hub—there were no crowds right next to the hotel, and it was quiet in the evenings and at night. Our room was a two-level family room, very cozy, clean, with comfortable mattresses and pillows, crisp white linens, and daily housekeeping. We also liked the breakfast—a traditional Chinese set menu (not a buffet)—which was delicious and authentic. I’d also like to share some thoughts on Lijiang itself. Initially, we planned to spend only 4 days here, but due to issues with our hotel in Dali, we left it earlier and extended our stay in Lijiang—and we were so glad we did it! Lijiang is absolutely charming. Even 6 days weren’t enough to fully explore it. Beyond the obvious pleasure of wandering through the Ancient City, I highly recommend: - Trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Tinghua Valley Lijiang Flowers—an incredibly beautiful botanical garden with fairy-tale views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Shuhe Ancient Town - Climbing up to Wangu Tower on Lion Hill in the Ancient City for sunset views. We explored all these places independently, booking DiDi rides and purchasing entrance tickets via Trip.com. However, if needed, Ah Fei can help organizing any tours. Also, if you’re not planning to continue toward Shangri-La, I strongly recommend taking a day trip from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge. The best option is the trek from Halfway Guesthouse to Tina’s Guesthouse (or Teacher Zhang’s Guesthouse). This hike was probably the most memorable highlight of my entire month-long trip to China—the views are simply breathtaking. In summary, we absolutely enjoyed both: the region and the hotel, where we were able to have very comfortable rest after busy days filled with excursions and long walks. Huge thanks to the entire staff!

The location is good and easy access. Ah Fei is a very good host , he will slowly introduce the place and help planning with our itinerary. He even gets to save some money for our day trip. I would definitely recommend this place and would be back again for sure.

Wonderful location. Close to the main road so its not hard to get to. But its in the old town so handy to enjoy it at ease

The location is at the rim of the old city, in a more realxed and quiet place. The old city center is very close and also easy to acces. The view from the first floor is great. The hotel is beautiful, cozy and well made. A Fei (the manager) hepls you to book all kind of tours, buy tea etc. There is a coffee shop at the “lobby”. They make great local coffee there and you can buy a great selection of coffees too. A lovely place, I can only recommend it. Breakfast is everywhere the same local style breakfast. We loved every minute of this place.

Hotel is inside Lijiang ancient town. It is not only at great location, the environment and the room are clean and comfortable, yet room rate is a real bargainis 😍. Owner Ah Fei is also another great added value to the hotel. He will help you settle everything 👍.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Exceptional Welcome – Thank You, Mr. Afei! Our stay in Lijiang was made truly special by the incredible hospitality of Mr. Afei. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for. Because a room upgrade was available, he kindly offered us a better room, which was a wonderful surprise. He also helped us purchase the tea we were looking for, something we truly appreciated. When we arrived at the entrance of the ancient town, Mr. Afei came to pick us up and helped us get to the hotel with our luggage. Upon arrival, he welcomed us with tea and fresh fruit, almost like a welcome drink, which was such a thoughtful and lovely gesture. He even sent us a message on WeChat with the most important places to visit in Lijiang, making sure we wouldn't miss the city's key highlights. Throughout our trip in China, we had never felt as warmly welcomed anywhere as we did here. Lijiang itself felt like a city that embraced us with warmth, and a great part of that feeling came from the exceptional care and hospitality provided by Mr. Afei. Thank you, Mr. Afei, for making our stay so memorable. You didn't just welcome us to a hotel; you made us feel at home. We had a wonderful stay here for 2 nights! Hotel location was right in the center of Lijiang Ancient Town which was really convenient. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. He even helped us pick up our luggage from the entrance of the ancient town, which we really appreciated. We were warmly welcomed with a lovely Chinese tea ceremony, where he also shared some useful information about Lijiang and gave us a few helpful safety tips for our trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The hotel room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable, and all the hotel amenities worked perfectly. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Lijiang!

We love this hotel! Ah Fei and the other hosts took such great care of us throughout our stay. As Muslims, we really appreciated that they accommodated our special breakfast request. 😁 We stayed for 2 nights, and on the second day Ah Fei upgraded our room after our original one had a power outage — the transition was smooth and hassle-free. He also helped us book a carpool from the hotel to our next stop in Tiger Leaping Gorge. Communication was never an issue either, as we got by easily using translator apps. The location is excellent too — right near the North Gate of Lijiang Ancient Town, just steps from the centre. There are plenty of halal restaurants within walking distance, which made things so much easier for us. We even met other Malaysians staying here! Highly recommended, especially for Muslim travelers.
