I stayed in a single pod with a private bathroom, which had no extractor inside and meant either using the AC to reduce humidity or opening the windows which were directly connected to a balcony. The windows are hard to open as they slide up and the lack of privacy from the public balcony meant that you could not leave it open overnight to air out.
Whilst the room was small and had the bare essentials due to the nature of a pod hotel, the quality of sleep was terrible. The placement of the AC next to the bed meant that there was a gap under the vents, which allowed noise from outside to enter in. You can hear music from the streets at 7-9am, people using the balcony at ungodly hours of the day (at one point they used it at 6:50am) and you can hear their whole conversation.
If you are on a budget and have no other option, then I would suggest using ear plugs, but having tried that option, there will be times it rolls off during the night and the outcome may still be the same.
I would not recommend staying here for 7 night, as the lack of amenities including a fridge and kettle really catches up to you during your stay. The portion sizes are no joke, so if you're solo traveling, you're quite limited in terms of takeaway or bringing back perishable goods.
Overall, whilst the value for money is there, the staff were friendly and responded to requests well and the location is close to subway stations, I would suggest spending that extra on comfort during your stay in New York.
