We boarded the Rhine River cruise to Boppard at 8 a.m., about 120 kilometers away, about an hour and 30 minutes by car. The bus takes Highway 59 all the way to Highway 565 southeast, then onto Highway 61, then on Highway 327 to Highway 210 to the cruise ship terminal in Bhopad. We booked a cruise at 11, so there was nearly 2 hours waiting time, but Boypada is a beautiful town, it was so easy to kill the 2 hours. Bhopad is a small town in the middle of the Rhine, named after the Roman fortress Boudobriga, built in the 4th century AD, where the wine Riesling is famous. We strolled first in the shade of the Rhine, where leisurely people sat on benches, cafe open-air tables and chairs scattered on the shore, and white wrought iron flower shelves hung with flower pots of red flowers.
