The Alanoi Cave is the best-preserved secret cave in Waitomo, located in the Ruakuri Nature Reserve, only 3 km from Waitomo Firefly Cave and 5 minutes by car. The cave was first discovered by Maori Ruruku Aranoi in 1910, so the cave was named after him. The Aranoi Cave is the smallest and most exquisite of the three caves in Waitomo, a dry hole without a dark river inside, so there are not many creatures in the cave. Walk through the forest of nature reserves to enter the beautiful ornate caves, where prehistoric limestone formations can be photographed up close. Pink, milky white, brown stalactites, stalagmites and meteorites. This cave is full of the mythical legends of the Maori people.
