Mafra Palace Library

The Mafra Library is located in the monastery of the magnificent Royal Palace Mafra Palace. It is cross-shaped and is the longest monastic library in the world. There are several Italian statues in the magnificent Baroque building, as well as the ancient pipe organ and carillon. Walking here, you can feel a heavy sense of history. There are about 40,000 rare books in the collection, many of which are said to have been bound in the monastery, with the library's name "MAFRA" printed on the lower part of the gilded spine. In the Mafra library, a particularly precious collection is a precious first edition of "Works" by Jill Vincent that was circled and marked by church censors.
