This is the birth spot of the American Civil War . This is on an island at the entrance of Charleston Harbor so you must take a book to get there. The boat charges a fee but the entry to the fort is free. You are inly allowed a certain amount of time at the fort so make the most of it . it has plenty of cannon you can see . There is also a movie theater where you can watch a movie about what happened there. There is also a musuem about the fort and the war which you can explore.

Pleasant shore, with some nice walking trails, wide open grassy areas, and a wonderful pier stretching out into the river. It is well worth a stop when visiting the northern side of the Charleston area.
