Serene place
This temple was once a part of Nagahama Hachimangu, which is just adjacent. The premises is covered with trees and create a spiritual atmosphere. It is not crowded at all and suitable for meditation.
It is a child temple of "Shinhoshoji", which was the "Jinguji" of Nagahama Hachimangu Shrine, and is the only temple left by the ordinance for the separation of Buddhism and Shintoism. Adjacent to Hachimangu Shrine, when I ask a woman who seems to be Mr. Okuri, it is better to enter from a small diameter leading from Hachimangu Shrine instead of entering from the mountain gate facing the roadway. The Gomado on the far left of the main hall is said to have been built during the Muromachi period, and the cypress bark roof is especially beautiful and impressive. The garden with Jizo statue donated by Naosuke II and the bell tower with splendid decoration by sculpture ...
The remnants of the former Bettoji Temple at Nagahama Hachiman Shrine. It's dim but quaint.
Original Text
There is a temple called Shinhoshoji, which was founded on Kukai, and was once a bettoji temple at Nagahama Hachiman Shrine, but it was abandoned by the Meiji era ordinance for the separation of Buddhism and Shintoism, and the remnants are Shanain. When the temple was abandoned, many Buddha statues were collected in Shanain. The atmosphere is sacred because the tree 々 is overgrown and in a dim place. It is said that it has been abandoned, but it is quite large, and there are Prince Do hall, main hall, and Goma Do hall (Fudo Do hall) that enshrines Prince Shotoku through a magnificent gate. Especially the roof of Gomado ...
When I went to Nagahama Hachimangu shrine, I found a sign on the right side, so I went there. Unlike the precincts of Hachimangu, this place has a lot of greenery and feels like a local temple. It seems that children's Kabuki is dedicated during the Hikiyama Festival.
A temple next to Nagahama Hachimangu. It is said that it was founded in 814 as a foundation, and until the separation of Shinto and Buddhism, it was a Jinguji Temple of Nagahama Hachimangu. The main hall was built in 1810, and the principal image is the seated statue of Aizen Myoo. In the far left of the main shrine, there is Goma-do, which was built during the Muromachi period, and enshrines a powerful statue of Fudo Myoo. I recommend visiting with Nagahama Hachimangu.
