Mao Zedong lived here from November 1938 to May 1943. In the autumn of 1940, due to the construction of the Central Auditorium and other projects, the environment was noisy. Mao Zedong and other leaders and some central organs moved to Zaoyuan to live, and in 1942 moved back to Yangjialing. In 1943, Mao Zedong and other leaders moved to Zaoyuan from here. Mao Zedong wrote many important articles such as "China Revolution and the Communist Party of China", "New Democracy", and "Speech at the Yan'an Literature and Art Symposium". The Resolution on Several Historical Issues was adopted by the Seventh Plenary Session of the Sixth Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1945. On April 23, 1945, the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China was also held here. It is now open to the public as a holy place for revolution.
