I recently stayed at THE BLOSSOM Kumamoto and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in Japan.
The location is unbeatable — it’s directly connected to JR Kumamoto Station and sits above a shopping mall, which made everything incredibly convenient, from transport to dining and shopping.
The hotel itself feels very modern and well-designed. The lobby and common areas are spacious and stylish, and the rooms are surprisingly roomy by Japanese standards. Everything was spotless, and the layout (especially the separate shower and toilet areas) made the stay very comfortable.
One of the highlights was definitely the public bath (onsen). It’s clean, relaxing, and perfect after a long day of exploring. The hotel also offers great facilities overall, and you can tell everything is still quite new and well maintained.
The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the stay. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the service really added to the overall experience.
Overall, THE BLOSSOM Kumamoto is a perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and modern design. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kumamoto.
Right out of the East Exit of the station, turn right and it's just a few minutes' walk. The bus stop is also at the East Exit, surrounded by malls and restaurants, making it super convenient. The front desk staff were warm and polite, and even helped me call to resolve an issue I had at their Miyazaki branch. The room was relatively spacious, and there's free coffee and tea in the lobby. Breakfast was also good. While other branches only start breakfast at 6:30 AM, here you can grab coffee and pastries from 6:00 AM, which is really convenient for travelers catching early trains. Toyoko Inn is always my first choice in Japan – great location, excellent service, good breakfast, and affordable prices. I'll definitely choose Toyoko Inn again in the future.
Service: English service was available, making communication smooth and clear. The front desk staff were professional.
Environment: The location is excellent. There's a bus stop right downstairs, it's easy to hail a taxi, and there are supermarkets, Kumamoto souvenir shops, restaurants, and convenience stores nearby – very convenient. There's also a pedestrian street in the vicinity, and the room offers a view of Kumamoto Castle.
Hygiene: Overall, it was good. Even when 'Do Not Disturb' was selected, fresh towels were still left hanging on the door. However, we found a pair of slippers under the bed that weren't ours, likely left by a previous guest.
Isn't this the best price? The staff were all very kind. Breakfast was also satisfying. Oh, one thing to say is that there is only one elevator, so it can get crowded depending on the time of day. I stayed here for a week, and this morning three people were unable to get off and had to be let out. It's a great hotel.
JAL's service really deserves a thumbs up; many Chinese service industries could learn from them. My earring fell into the sink, and I'd pretty much given up hope. But the lady at the front desk and a gentleman went to great lengths to help me find it. I'm so grateful!
It’s the first hotel that I’ve been to in Japan that had a normal check-in procedure through the receptionist rather than a machine, and you’re greeted upon entry. The location is so perfect and considering it’s right next to the train station, I didn’t hear a thing. Also the room for the price was very comfortable and spacious!
Right on a lively street, it's great! Perfect for a stroll or doing anything else. There's also a constant flow of people. Games, snacks, izakayas, and a convenience store are all downstairs. The service is also very sweet.
Environment: 👌
Service: 👌
Hygiene: 👌
Facilities: 👌
Quite close to the airport
But it is recommended to drive to
Very suitable for travelers arriving on the first night
Food nearby is within walking distance
But behind is the etiquette club
There are taboos that need attention
The hotel is conveniently located near the city center, with shopping right downstairs. The triple room we stayed in was a decent size, but the bathroom drain had a really unpleasant, garlicky smell that I absolutely disliked. The public bath was a bit chaotic and not a hot spring; it had a strong bleach odor. You get what you pay for, I guess. The hotel's partner parking next door had a height limit, and the other partner lots were too far and not much cheaper. The next day, I just parked in the non-partner lot across the street, which was only about 200 yen more for the night.
The hotel location is good, but the room and the bed is just too small for two. It also doesn't have parking space despite claiming it have some lots but you will not be able to reserve it. Nevertheless, parking space is plenty around the hotel with different rates.

Very Good
JJiangchuanmaijiuPros: Great location, super close to Sakuramachi bus terminal, making transfers really convenient. The front desk staff were also excellent. When I asked about sending my luggage to my next hotel, they took my next hotel reservation, handled everything themselves – contacting the next hotel and even filling out the shipping form for me.
Cons: The facilities are quite old. The water boiler is just a small stainless steel cup that you heat up – it's tiny and seems unsafe, I can't understand why they haven't upgraded it. Breakfast was also mediocre; all the fruit was canned.
GGuest UserAs the first stop of my birthday trip, I chose Aso. Having previously worked as a hotel management professional, I had high expectations for the hotel’s facilities and services. My stay at Kakuman Hotel, along with my traveling companions, was thoroughly enjoyable—from check-in to the overall amenities, everything exceeded our satisfaction. The staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly, whether at the front desk or in the restaurant. Additionally, experiencing hot springs for the first time left us feeling deeply relaxed. Thank you to Kakuman Hotel for adding color to my journey.🙏🏼
While every aspect was highly satisfying, there was a minor shortcoming: the majority of diners in the restaurant were Korean tourists. On my second night, a small incident occurred during dinner. The server assigned me a seat where only tableware and a departure-time notice were placed. After I retrieved my food, I found three Korean guests (two elderly individuals and a middle-aged man) preparing to sit there. I was confused whether I had taken the wrong seat or if there was another reason, so I asked the guests. Unexpectedly, the man loudly called over the female server who had arranged the seat and sharply questioned her in Japanese. The server later found me the correct seat, which was at the table adjacent to the three guests. I felt deeply sorry for the female server being unjustly scolded, and I also did not understand why the Korean man needed to accuse her in such a loud tone—I would have been happy to apologize for my misunderstanding.
Regarding the above incident, I would like to offer a suggestion: the tables in the restaurant are each equipped with a bucket of tableware and wet wipes, but there are no numbers or markers to identify the assigned seats. Guests can only rely on placing their own items or memory to remember their seats. I believe I am not the only one who has encountered a similar issue, and the hotel may consider adding markers to each table to make it easier for guests to recognize their assigned seats.
GGuest UserPros:
1. Great location! It's a convenient 5-10 minute walk from Kumamoto Bus Terminal (easily accessible by bus from Fukuoka Airport), right in the commercial district. No worries about coming back late after shopping.
2. The hotel is very new and spotlessly clean. There wasn't a single dirty spot or any unpleasant odors. The hygiene was exceptional.
3. On the first floor, there's a self-service station for amenities and maps. On the middle floors, you'll find pajamas and a microwave.
4. The staff were fantastic! One gentleman spoke Chinese and proactively offered help in Chinese, and all the other staff members were incredibly nice.
Cons:
1. This is truly hard to explain, but I didn't sleep a wink for both nights of my stay. The hotel allows windows to be opened, so the temperature was good, but it got stuffy and hot in the middle of the night. The duvet was incredibly non-breathable, feeling like it was made of a poor quality material. My arms even broke out in a rash, possibly an allergic reaction. The pillow was also uncomfortable.
2. The room type I was given overlooked a construction site, and it was incredibly noisy.
Overall, it was a very strange stay. The hotel is new, and the staff are great, yet I somehow couldn't sleep for two nights. I'm still feeling groggy and can't pinpoint why it didn't work for me. However, I still highly recommend the hotel.

GGuest UserI stayed here with my parents. We had separate rooms and booked this room for them. It was new, well-equipped, and wonderful. It was a very cold day, but the heating in the room and the semi-open-air bath in the room were warm, so it seemed comfortable for my elderly parents. The staff were also very courteous. Although I didn't book this room, the room type we stayed in was cold, as the heating in the semi-open-air bath and the room didn't work very well. If you're staying during the cold season, I think it's better to choose a D-type room or higher. I would like to visit again during the better seasons.

CCarltonBooked this hotel last minute and it was surprisingly cheap, definitely worth the price. The only downside is there's no parking. I wasn't feeling well that day and just parked across the street, which ended up costing me 1300 JPY for 12 hours. Turns out, if I had looked around a bit more, there were plenty of spots nearby for 500-600 JPY for the same duration.
LLei,taoOverall, a fantastic stay! I really appreciated the complimentary drinks and the spacious bathtub in the room. The service was excellent, and I'll definitely be returning for another visit. My only minor critique is that the location isn't the most convenient, but despite that, I found the overall experience to be very satisfactory.
YYipmummyThe room was really clean and modern feel. Loved it the moment we stepped in! Pillows and bed was so comfy that allows us to rest well on a road trip. Pls note they do not have kitchen, they do offeted 24hrs free coffe, tea and miso at their mini meals area where you can buy your own food and enjoy there with families.
Seriously no complaint about the hotel.
But if you are heading there on sun like us, pls do note you will have limited choice for dinner as most restaurants closed on sun
