The Citizens Prosocial Pistol Skills event, also known as the Protective Pistol or Pro-Social Pistol, is a comprehensive two-day course offered by CSA. This course focuses on equipping individuals with the necessary skills to effectively defend against a life-threatening criminal attack while abiding by the law. It is specifically designed for armed citizens who carry concealed handguns, as well as plainclothes or off-duty police officers.
The primary objective of this course is to develop knowledge, skills, and mindset required to dominate and overcome deadly assaults, while also being able to successfully defend these actions in a court of law. Key topics covered include mental awareness, defensive mindset, proper pistol concealment and clothing considerations, efficient gun handling techniques under stress, rapid presentation from concealed carry during an attack, and high-speed accuracy at close and mid ranges.
Other essential skills taught in the course include reliable pistol malfunction fixing, reloading techniques, shooting effectively with one hand and under cognitive load, and understanding tactical anatomy. It is important to note that completion of a state handgun carry permit class or a similar pistol shooting class is a prerequisite for this course. Prior experience in safely handling, drawing, and holstering a pistol is also highly recommended.
Participants are required to bring their own quality pistol, preferably a 9mm or .38 Special, with full or compact size. It is advisable to have a spare gun in case of any malfunctions. Additionally, a quality holster that completely covers the trigger guard, a sturdy belt to support the holster, and around 550-600 rounds of quality training ammunition are needed. Three magazines or speed loaders with appropriate belt pouches, concealed clothing, eye and hearing protection, comfortable shoes, rain gear, bug repellent, and sunscreen are also essential.
The lead instructor for this event is Aqil Qadir, along with other CSA instructors. Please note that refunds are generally not issued, so it is important to ensure availability before purchasing a ticket.
