Birthday Show & Album Fundraiser | Elgin Theatre Guild
Nov 16, 2024 (UTC-5)
Thomas
Birthday Show & Album Fundraiser: Come celebrate with us at the Elgin Theatre Guild for an unforgettable night of fun music! This show has 2 main objectives: 1) It's my birthday on November 16th and I would love nothing more than to share some beautiful music with some beautiful people...like you! Join us. Feel the love, feel the joy, feel the inspiration. 2) In March of this year, I reached my goal of writing 100 songs. The idea was to write 100, pick the best of the best and make an album with my selections. Well, I am officially in the studio and my producers and I are hard at work crafting what I believe is my best album yet. What they don't tell you is that albums are expensive to make. Be part of the story, the journey, the myth, of why it came to fruition. At this show, I will be featuring, live, a large selection of tunes off of the record, which means that 120 of you will get to hear the songs before anyone else. I am also bringing along my 4 piece band for this show, which means you will feel the full impact of said songs. You'll get a taste of a couple top secret special guests as well. During the breaks, take part in the 50/50 draw, the silent auction, and buy some merch, all of which go to the cause (making the album). I'd love for you to be there! It's going to be a night to remember, so mark your calendars and invite your friends for a fantastic evening of entertainment. See you there!

Madhubani/ Indian Folk Art: Forest of Honey | Cass Art
Nov 17, 2024 (UTC+0)
Cass
This unique workshop has been designed to offer a mindful experience while creating your own Madhubani painting (Indian Folk Art). Madhubani/Mithila Painting, meaning Forest of Honey can be traced back to the 7th century AD in the Indian subcontinent, in the state of Bihar. Madhubani paintings were traditionally created by the women of different communities, of the Mithila region- Bihar in India, and done on freshly plastered mud (cow dung) on walls and floors of huts, but now they are also done on cloth, handmade paper and canvas. Madhubani art uses complex geometrical patterns; generally, no space is left empty; the gaps are filled by painting flowers, animals, birds, and geometric designs. You don’t need previous experience to join. I will take you step by step in the art of Madhubani Painting. My workshops are designed to provide a space to connect and bring people together whilst doing art mindfully and increasing a feeling of well-being and creative revitalisation. The first hour includes warm-up exercises using a bespoke pattern sheet. These sheets are designed to help you learn how to create complex border designs using simple shapes. Each person is provided with an A4 sketchbook in which you will complete various exercises. To create your final piece I will be taking you step by step in the art of Madhubani Painting. By the second half of the class, you will be in a deep relaxed mindful state as you complete your beautiful masterpiece using watercolours. **Ideal for those who are looking to:** - Learn from a professional working artist - Learn traditional and contemporary art techniques - Push their creativity and experience something new - Create art mindfully and increase a feeling of well-being and creative revitalisation.
