Run by professional comedians, this comedy course is perfect for those looking to check off an item on their bucket list, aspiring keynote speakers, and future comedians. The course runs over 5 evenings, from Sunday to Thursday, starting at 6.30 pm and ending at 9.30 pm. Starting on January 21 and ending on January 25, 2024, this course offers a comprehensive learning experience.
Participants will receive the Hard Knock Knocks comedy manual, providing valuable insights and tips. Additionally, they will gain 12 months of access to the Hard Knock Knocks online comedy course, ensuring ongoing learning beyond the classroom. As a bonus, participants will receive an HD-video of their graduating performance, allowing them to showcase their talent. Professional headshot photographs will also be provided to assist with future marketing efforts.
Furthermore, participants will gain access to a vibrant community of comedians, offering opportunities to perform in various venues around Melbourne. With one-on-one coaching from the resident comedy coach and guest comedy coach, participants will receive personalized guidance and support. Prior to the course, participants can access the online course content on their phone or PC to familiarize themselves with the material. The online course includes engaging videos, activities, and discussions, narrated by the renowned Greg Fleet. This pre-course access ensures that participants feel prepared and confident from day one.
During the course, participants will cover a range of topics. They will learn the basics of stand-up comedy and industry jargon, explore different joke structures, and work on their creative skills. Techniques such as the 'Normal-Normal-Twist' and 'Nonsense-in-all-seriousness' will be taught to help participants develop their own unique comedic style.
Participants will also learn how to generate content, build confidence, deliver their set effectively, and control a room. They will receive guidance on writing a strong opening, dealing with hecklers, and crafting a memorable closing. The final night will be the graduation performance, where participants will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of family and friends, alongside three professional stand-up comedians.
After completing the course, participants will have the chance to perform in open mic rooms across Melbourne, thanks to the extensive network of Hard Knock Knocks Comedy School alumni. This invaluable opportunity allows them to further develop their skills and gain exposure.
