Volunteers are being sought for the 10th Annual Slash & Berm Banked Slalom competition, taking place at Killington Resort in Killington, VT. The event, organized by Killington Resort, Darkside Snowboards, and Burton, will be held from March 1st to March 3rd, 2024. Snowboarders from all over will gather at Killington's The Stash terrain park to showcase their skills on the natural terrain and creative elements of the mountain. This year, the event is proud to donate all proceeds to the Friends of Rutland Skatepark, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a concrete skatepark in Rutland, VT. Volunteers are needed to support the event in three key areas. The first area is Registration, where volunteers will greet and check in participants, ensure correct completion of registration forms, collect signed waiver forms, distribute competition bibs and shirts, and provide information to competitors. Gate Checkers, the second area, will be responsible for reporting any riders who fall or go off course. Volunteers in this role will be equipped with a radio and assigned a designated gate, requiring them to ski or snowboard on intermediate or advanced terrain. Finally, Runners will assist in setting up, taking down, and transporting various equipment throughout the Stash and Lil' Stash terrain parks. This role will require outdoor work, so volunteers should dress appropriately and bring necessary ski/snowboard equipment and additional layers for warmth. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and are required to fill out the Express Assumption of Risk form in advance. A free lift ticket and lunch will be provided for each shift worked, with lift tickets valid for one year from the date of receipt. Registration setup will be located at the Bear Mountain Lodge (Fuel TV Lounge) on Friday and Saturday, and at the Ramshead Base Lodge on Sunday. The 10th Annual Slash & Berm Banked Slalom is an exciting event that brings together Killington Resort, Darkside Snowboards, and Burton for a great cause. The action kicks off on Friday with a Shop Team Invite-Only banked slalom event, where local shops will compete for the Slash & Berm Banked Slalom title. On Saturday, the event is open to all snowboarders and will be individually timed. This year, Groms (snowboarders ages 13 & under) can also participate and showcase their skills in The Stash. Additionally, a Switch Run will replace the Just for Fun run on Saturday, open to the first 50 participants to sign up. The event concludes on Sunday with the Grom Slalom event for competitors ages 13 & under, taking place in the Lil' Stash at Ramshead. RegistrationCheck-in will be held in the Fuel TV Lounge on the 3rd floor of the Bear Mountain Lodge from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on event day. Remember that all athletes must check-in before 9:30 a.m. to receive a bib and compete. The entry fee is $50 for the Grom, Open, and Legends divisions, which includes lunch. Competitor tickets are available for $65 on Saturday, and participants must have a lift ticket or pass to compete. Registrations will not be accepted after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. If spots are still available, day-of registration can be done from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the check-in location in the Bear Mountain Lodge. Participants can pay only via credit/debit card. It's important to note that this competition is exclusively for snowboarders, and all participants must wear a properly fastened snow sports helmet during practice, inspection, and competition. Make sure to inspect the course/venue before the event and stay within your skill and ability levels. Scoring rules for Saturday include the best of 2 runs, and missing a gate results in a disqualified run. The event offers various divisions, including Grom Boys, Grom Girls, Open Men and Women (13+), and Legends Men and Women (40+).
