Join the upcoming two-day workshop, "Testing & Training Athletes: The Training-Performance Puzzle (Maryland)," held at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks Glencoe, MD from April 20 to April 21, 2024. This workshop, led by Dr. Gabbett, bridges the gap between training theory and practice, offering a deeper dive into the factors that contribute to athlete wellbeing and elite performance. Participants will learn how to develop training programs that ensure athletes' skill and physical performance hold up under competition pressure and fatigue.
Throughout the workshop, participants will explore the differences in load capacity between adult and adolescent athletes, gaining hands-on experience in developing training programs. With a combination of lectures, practical sessions, and group problem-solving activities, this workshop encourages group interaction and collaboration to solve the performance puzzle.
Topics covered include principles of strength and conditioning, needs analysis, individualizing the training process, skill acquisition for clinicians and coaches, training for health and wellbeing, and building a program from the ground up.
This workshop is relevant to physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, physical therapy students, chiropractors, strength and conditioning coaches, school teachers, coaches, and athletic trainers. Participants will earn 1.4 CEUs (14 hours) approved by NSCA for Strength and Conditioning Coaches (approval pending from the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners).
