Join the 4 Week Course: Handbuilding with Clay 101 in Chicago and discover the fundamentals of coil, slab, and slump mold techniques for clay construction. This beginner-friendly course requires no prior clay experience. During this course, participants will explore various techniques. In the first week, they will learn how to create a cup or mug using the coil building method. Participants will discover how to roll out clay ropes and layer them to form a functional vessel. The second week focuses on creating a tray or plate using slump molds. Participants will learn how to make a slab and shape it into a tray or plate to replicate the desired form. In the third week, participants have the freedom to create a vessel of their choice using a combination of coil and slab building techniques. This week allows for creative exploration and experimentation. The final week is dedicated to decorating the completed projects using underglaze. The finished pieces will be fired and ready for pick up the following week. The course fee of $150 includes all necessary materials, class tools, as well as firing and clear glazing of the pieces.
