They are hosting camp at Bethel University this summer for top high school players and teams!About this EventDear College Bound Player, Coach JJ and Coach Tico would like to invite you to a unique training opportunity. They are hosting an elite training camp at the Bethel University campus in McKenzie, TN, from July 13th-16th, 2025. The training camp will be open to teams and individuals who play boys high school soccer and club level soccer, ages 13-18. This summer camp is highly beneficial, as it prepares players for the upcoming fall season, college play and ODP events. Players will be challenged in every facet of player development; quality demonstration, expert field sessions, cutting edge lectures, and 11v11 competitions. Participants will be taught to analyze various systems of play and learn some of the intangible factors that can make the player and their team more competitive. During this four day, three night camp, players will attend two training sessions daily, participate in classroom sessions, and play in 11 v 11 games. The coaching staff will be comprised of college coaches from across the country. These coaches have been selected based on their expertise, knowledge of and passion for the game. Current and former Bethel University Wildcat players will serve as assistant coaches, group leaders and mentors. The registration fee of $330 includes room, meals, and an evaluation form at the end of camp. How to Write Comedy for McSweeney’s andThe New Yorker Please join Read Recycle Repeat and humor writer Talia Argondezzi for a fun how-to workshop about writing short humor and satire for comedy websites like McSweeney’s and the Shouts and Murmurs section of The New Yorker. In this workshop, we’ll look at a few examples of comedic monologues, learn the key tools for writing jokes that land, and brainstorm ideas for new comedic monologues. All workshop participants will walk away with an idea for a character who can deliver a funny monologue, a comedy-writing toolkit, and a list of target publications. Cost: This workshop is Pay What You Wish, so you decide the cost for you. All proceeds will go to Norristown Page Turners, a nonprofit focused on literacy and reading enjoyment for students in the Norristown Area School District. Workshop Leader: Talia Argondezzi is a humor writer and satirist who has written comedy for McSweeney’s, The New Yorker digital, Reader’s Digest, Points in Case, The Funny Times, Slackjaw, The Belladonna, and many other publications. In 2023, she published her first comedy book, a collection of humorous advice called Lean the F*ck Out, and became the first writer ever to have three articles on McSweeney’s Most-Read Pieces of the Year list.
