What is a Ruck March, you may ask? It involves briskly walking with a weighted backpack, imitating the Armed Forces' training routine. In this case, we invite you to carry the symbolic weight of 22 pounds or items to honor the 22 veterans who tragically take their lives every day in the United States. The Royal Oak Ruck 22 March aims to shed light on the challenges faced by veterans and their families, while also providing tangible support. All the personal items and food collected during the event will be donated to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154, who use them to assist veterans and their families. Additionally, all funds raised will be donated to local organizations dedicated to supporting veterans in need. The event will take place at Centennial Commons in Royal Oak on November 4, 2023. Admission is $22 for adults, while active and retired military personnel as well as children can attend for free.
