Attend the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor Class in San Leandro, CA from January 6th to January 13th, 2024. This program is designed to develop instructors who can teach NRA Basic Firearm Training Courses according to the National Rifle Association's lesson plans and training standards. Please note that this program does not prepare you to teach other firearm training courses or to develop your own courses. It is also not focused on improving your shooting skills. Prior to certification, you must complete the NRA Basic course in the discipline you wish to obtain and demonstrate your firearm background through participation in pre-course assessment or qualification exercises.
The NRA Instructor Training Course consists of three parts. The first part is the basic class, which is required for all instructor candidates to ensure they have seen the class before certifying to teach it. The second part is basic instructor training, which covers the backend of firearms classes and is required for candidates without proof of completion within the past two years. The third part is discipline-specific instructor training, which is an additional 8-10 hours of training for Basics of Pistol Shooting.
During the course, you will receive the NRA Trainer's Guide, the appropriate NRA Instructor Candidate Packet, and the appropriate NRA basic course student packet. Your certification recommendation will be based on an evaluation of your knowledge, skills, and attitude by the NRA Training Counselor. This evaluation includes practical exercises, teaching skills demonstrations, and an instructor certification examination.
The class will be held at the San Leandro Rifle & Pistol Range, and the pricing for each day is as follows: $195 for Basics of Pistol Shooting, $60 for Basic Instructor Training, and $140 for Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor. A package price of $395 is available for all three days. Please bring the necessary materials outlined in the class requirements, including a semi-automatic pistol or revolver in .22lr through .45ACP, 200 rounds of ammunition, and protective gear. Lunch will not be provided, so please bring a packed lunch.
To register for the class, ensure that your information matches what the NRA has on file for you. NRA membership is recommended but not required. Don't miss this opportunity to become a certified NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor.
