A knight’s journey with Emilia Skirmuntt | National Trust - Dunster Castle and Watermill
Jun 7, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Dunster
lesson description:| Fiore Longsword – Evolution
Fiore dei Liberi was a 14th-century knight, diplomat, and fencing master who authored one of the earliest known fencing manuals, Flos Duellatorum (The Flower of Battle). In this manual, he details techniques for all major "knightly weapons," including the longsword, axe, and dagger, as well as unarmed combat. He also covers both armoured and unarmoured fighting.
In this session, we will explore the progression of techniques in The Flower of Battle, beginning with fundamental grappling (abrazare), transitioning to dagger techniques (daga), and culminating in longsword applications. We will focus on key principles such as leverage, control, and adaptability, incorporating disarms, half-swording techniques, and their practical applications in combat.
Level: Intermediate (Beginners welcome!)
Required Equipment: Longsword, fencing mask, protective gloves, and gorget.
Recommended Equipment: Shin and knee protectors, gambeson, elbow protectors, and a groin protector (for men)
The event will be outside and whilst we will try to ensure that the weather doesn't beat us in the case of extreme weather we may have to move to a sports hall.
Meet your. Instructor :
Emilia has trained how to hit people with swords and other objects for more than 20 years. Crystalline Sound Bathing Session | Trinity Methodist Church
Jun 12, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Winsford
Journey into the realms of pure bliss by bathing in the magical sounds of Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls, ocean drums, koshi chimes and more. Allow the beautiful vibrations to wash over you and bring in fresh energy, deep cleansing and clearing of anything no longer required.
Sound healing has numerous benefits including helping to reduce stress and anxiety, improving sleep, boosting energy, balancing the energetic body, reducing physical pain and improving mental clarity. No prior experience is necessary.
I work specifically with Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls that are made with the highest quality quartz and produce the purest sound. They are blended with gems, minerals and precious metals to enhance their healing properties. Each bowl is a unique, one-off creation and my collection includes energies of nurturing, compassion, flow, loving communication, heart expansion, balance, ancient wisdom, crone energy, cleansing and celestial connection.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You can experience the sound bath lying down or seated. We begin by inviting the body to relax and open through the breath before the bowls begin to play. The sound waves created by the bowls help shift the brain into deeper states of relaxation and you may even fall asleep. It is in this relaxed state that the body can heal and restore. The crystal singing bowls are supported by other instruments that mimic sounds of nature - these sounds also allow the body to relax, soften and encourage a sense of safety in the nervous system.
WHAT TO BRING
You will need to bring something comfortable to lie down on and a blanket or two for warmth. If it is not comfortable for you to lie down you are very welcome to enjoy the session seated. You may wish to bring a pillow/cushion for added comfort. You may also want to bring water or throat sweets if you have a dry throat or cough.
DRESS WARMLY IN LAYERS
