Details

Celebrate Black History Month at the Collage Workshop: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow, featuring artist Ehiko Odeh. This captivating event will take you on a journey into the fascinating world of hair and culture. Held at the Central Branch of the Richmond Hill Public Library in Richmond Hill, Ontario, this workshop draws inspiration from Indigenous hairstyles in Nigeria and the Americas. Participants, aged 9 to 15, will explore the rich history of hair fashion and the cultural significance of various hairstyles. Ehiko Odeh, an artist originally from Lagos, Nigeria and now residing in Toronto, Ontario, brings her unique perspective and creative talents to this program. Her work is deeply influenced by themes such as decolonization, coiffure, ethnobotany, memory, and play, all expressed through an expressive color palette and the use of found or repurposed textiles. Priority will be given to confirmed RHPL card holders, and caregivers are required to remain in the building for children under the age of 11, in accordance with RHPL's Customer Code of Conduct Policy. For more information about the program and its policies, please visit the Richmond Hill Public Library website. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the artistry of hair and culture with Ehiko Odeh at the Collage Workshop: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow. Mark your calendars for February 10, 2024, from 12-1:30 p.m. at Rooms A & B, Central Branch. Tickets will go on sale on December 4, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
