Crépu: Our DNA, a Black Hair Art Show, is an upcoming multidisciplinary exhibition celebrating the artistry of Afro hair. Taking place on February 4th, 2024 in Ottawa, this event is set to be an evening of art, networking, conversation, and music. Organized by Hors Pair Social and The Moving Art Gallery, Crépu explores the significance of black hair as a medium for self-expression, cultural preservation, and resilience. This edition of Crépu is a collaboration with Ingenium, a prominent corporation overseeing three museums in Canada: the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and Canada Science and Technology Museum. The event is supported by the City of Ottawa, Youth Action Now, Cloré Beauty, and Ingenium. Throughout the evening, attendees can expect a range of activities, including live hair care demonstrations, a hair art runway, musical and spoken word performances, museum presentations on the history and innovation of black hair care technology in Canada, a screening of the short film Nid d’oiseau followed by a panel discussion, and a reception with music provided by DJ Velvet. Tickets for the event are priced at 22.63$, with a pay-what-you-can option available both online and at the door. Please note that seating in the auditorium is limited to 230 people, and purchasing tickets online guarantees a seat in the auditorium.
