Join us on March 1st for the third installment of our Best Practices series, featuring the talented artist JD Moore. JD's artistic journey has been a remarkable one, evolving since his departure from The Cedars Union Cohort program. A Dallas native, JD has been a full-time artist in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 2013, when he completed a tattoo apprenticeship under the guidance of Gerald Garcia at Last Angels Tattoo Co.
JD's captivating painting work is characterized by narrative-driven oil and acrylic portraiture, drawing inspiration from the Renaissance, Neoclassicism, and Realism periods. His unique approach to figurative art was featured in the February issue of The Plano Profile Magazine in 2017, followed by an interview on Austere.com during his residency in Oquevaux, France.
JD's artistic pursuits have taken him to Tuscany, Italy, where he explored fresco painting under the tutelage of Emanuele Capozza at La Macina di San Cresci. Notably, JD has also made his mark in the public domain, creating two public murals in Dallas, Texas commissioned by the Deep Ellum Foundation and the Thanks-Giving Foundation.
Currently, JD is focused on creating a new series of paintings while honing his tattooing, CAD, and woodworking skills, as well as actively seeking new mural opportunities. Don't miss the chance to gain insights into JD Moore's artistic journey, influences, and the passion that drives his creative pursuits at the CU Lecture: Best Practices with JD Moore event, taking place at The Cedars Union in Dallas. Admission is by donation.
