Join artist Rosina Godwin in an experimental practical workshop called Intestinal Knitting, a part of the Soft Tissue group exhibition at Metroland Studios in London. This unique workshop combines the traditional crafts of knitting and crochet with soft sculpture, challenging the hierarchy of art forms and questioning societal norms. Participants will have the opportunity to create three-dimensional tubes using various techniques, including increasing and decreasing stitches and crochet. While the focus is on creating experimental artwork, these techniques can also be adapted for practical purposes. No prior experience is necessary, although some basic knitting or crochet skills would be ideal. All necessary materials and equipment will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own yarn and knitting needles if desired. The workshop encourages a hands-on approach, allowing attendees to explore different materials and techniques and make their own discoveries. Rosina Godwin, a highly experienced artist and workshop facilitator, has conducted over 50 experimental knitting workshops across the country. She holds a First Class BA Hons degree in Fine Art and is currently pursuing an MA in Fine Art at the University of Reading. Her work has been exhibited in various galleries and exhibitions, including Retrespect, The Playful Turn, and Stuffed.
