Introduction to Clay – Wheel Throwing is an engaging bi-weekly program offered at the Bailey Contemporary Arts in Pompano Beach. This program provides students with the opportunity to explore the art of manipulating clay using the wheel throwing method. Each session is carefully designed to be independent, allowing students to join at any time. However, it is highly recommended for students to participate in various workshops to truly master the medium and feel comfortable with the materials.

During the class, students will have the chance to create their own unique clay object. They will learn to apply underglaze (color) to their work and have it cleaned up before the bisque firing. After the first firing, an experienced instructor will expertly apply a clear glaze, followed by a second firing to complete the piece. Students can expect a turnaround time of 1.5 to 2 weeks for their finished work to be ready for them to take home and enjoy.

Please note that to participate in the Wheel Throwing program, students must first complete at least one Hand Building workshop. The sessions are held on the third Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and the fourth Saturday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
