Join Chris Colebrook, a seasoned director, actor, workshop facilitator, and coach with over 7 years of improvisation experience, for a special workshop on farcical comedy. This unique event delves into the world of traditional Iranian styles of improvisation, exploring its historical significance in ancient Persia and drawing parallels with Italian commedia del Arte. Gain a comprehensive understanding of farcical comedy, covering essential elements such as stock characters, exaggerated performances, voice and accent, movement, mimicry, character status, audience engagement, and the role of the Iranian fool within improvised scene narratives.

Through a series of engaging exercises, participants will also delve into the nature of ancient improvisations within unscripted drama, highlighting the contrasting aspects with modern improvisation techniques. Please note that this workshop may involve the creation and use of theatre masks or face paint to portray specific stock characters.

Chris Colebrook, of Iranian descent, recently directed a successful play titled "The Merchant's Play" at Webster's Theatre in Glasgow, based on the traditional Iranian style of improvisation known as Baqqal Bazi. With his extensive training from City of Glasgow College, University of Glasgow, and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this workshop.

The event will take place at the Govanhill Neighbourhood Centre, located near Queen's Park station in Govanhill. On-street parking is available outside the venue (subject to availability). This workshop is organized by The Improv Cooperative, and it is part of their ongoing series of shows, jams, and workshops. We came here on a spontaneous visit one Sunday afternoon in January and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our wee boy loved seeing the &ldquo;old fashioned house&rdquo; and was so well looked after by all the staff, from the cash register to the flat and back out again.

We went round twice (with a shift change between visits!) and the insight into one story of no doubt thousands like it in Glasgow was fantastic. Plus our boy thoroughly enjoyed colouring in his wallie dug. A hidden gem that is well worth the wander through Garnethill.

This museum is a place where people have to punch in. I especially like the oil paintings in the museum. After seeing it, I feel a great enjoyment. The museum is also a favorite place for primary and secondary school students.

It is said that it can be traced back to the famous William Conquest period. It was built to commemorate St. Diego. It took hundreds of years to build and has been around for nearly a thousand years. It is the oldest religious building in the entire Scottish region. It is also a must-see for tourists.

George Square is located in Glasgow city center and is very conveniently accessible by train or subway. On nice days, you can sunbathe and watch pigeons in the square. It is close to the famous shopping street, where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, shoes and socks. There are also many restaurants and eateries to choose from. 
George Square is a must-see attraction. In addition to admiring the architecture of the square;during different festivals, such as Christmas, the square is built into a Christmas Market, becoming a dynamic and happy atmosphere.
