Join printmaker Sharran Makin in the Introduction to Screen Printing on Paper workshop at the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop in Adamstown. This two-day workshop, taking place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd April 2024, will teach you the basics of screen printing on paper using a simple one-colour design. Under the guidance of Sharran Makin, a national award-winning artist, you will learn how to coat your screens with emulsion and transfer your image onto the screen using a light exposure unit. The workshop will also cover the different screens and paints available, as well as the tools needed to create your own screen prints independently. After completing the screen-printing process, you will be shown how to wash up your screens and remove the images. All necessary materials, including access to screen printing equipment and paint, will be provided for a materials fee of $20 payable on the first day. Participants are encouraged to bring their own high contrast, uncomplicated A4 size black and white image to print. COVID safety measures will be in place, including sign-in, hand sanitizing, and physical distancing.
