The LEAP Secondary Art Workshops, also known as Talleres de Arte Secundaria, are a fantastic opportunity for scholars with special needs in the Grand Prairie ISD (GPISD). These workshops, organized by the Special Education Department of GPISD, aim to provide enrichment activities using the principles of Learning through Engagement, the Arts, and Play (LEAP). Open to students enrolled in grades K-5, the workshops are led by a LEAP Art Specialist, with the assistance of three Special Education staff members. The workshops feature a variety of engaging activities, including music, movement, and craft projects that are tailored to upcoming events and holidays. These fun-filled sessions offer not only a chance to have a great time, but also to develop essential functional, fine motor, and gross motor skills. It's important to note that there are limited seats available, with a maximum of 20 students per event. To ensure the safety of both staff and students, scholars who display excessively disruptive, aggressive, or elopement behaviors will be required to have caregiver supervision at future events. The LEAP Secondary Art Workshops will take place at the Lyndon B. Johnson Disciplinary Alternative Education Program in Grand Prairie, Texas. The next workshop is scheduled for November 14, 2023, and admission is free. Don't miss this incredible opportunity for your child to engage in a creative and enriching experience.
