The Massachuetts Basic Firearms Class is a comprehensive five-hour course designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain a Class C FID and a Class A License to carry firearms without restriction. Taught by our certified Massachusetts State Police Instructors in a classroom setting, this course covers all aspects of the application process, including the reasons for applying and the desired license.

The class is open to individuals aged 15 years and above, with parental or guardian consent. We offer private, group, corporate, and on-location classes to accommodate various schedules and preferences.

The Class A License to Carry Firearms (LTC A) is a may-issue photo and fingerprint card that can be renewed every six years. It grants individuals the authority to purchase, possess, transport, and carry handguns, rifles, and shotguns. It is important to note that when carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, it must be under direct control.

On the other hand, the Class C Firearms Identification Card (FID) is also a photo and fingerprint card that can be renewed every six years. This card allows individuals to purchase, possess, and transport non-large capacity rifles or shotguns, as well as ammunition and chemical sprays.

Throughout the Massachuetts Basic Firearms Class, participants will learn about various topics, including pistol parts and operation, ammunition usage, safe pistol handling, shooting fundamentals, different shooting positions, and how to improve and maintain shooting skills. Additionally, the class will cover Massachusetts laws pertaining to permit applications, firearms storage, and transportation.
