Details

"Miss Evers Boys" is a thought-provoking and poignant staged reading by David Felshuh, shedding light on the covert medical experiment that took place in Tuskegee, Alabama. The Tuskegee Study, one of the most infamous medical secrets in American history, unjustly denied black males treatment for syphilis. Set against this backdrop, the play follows a research nurse who grapples with her loyalty to the institute's doctors, while a group of patients discovers solace and resilience through the power of music. This minimalist production, presented by Performers for Social Justice, features an exceptional cast including Jamie Marie Cartwright, Lavon Youins, Keyshawn Housey, Garrick Duckery, Elgin Lee, Ray Ellis, and Carlos P. Luckie, Jr., under the direction of Bonnie Brault. If you are interested in participating in future performances with our esteemed theatre group, please reach out to Bonnie at bonnie.brault@comcast.net. Additionally, during the intermission, we will be offering refreshments including water and cookies for purchase. Please note that only cash will be accepted. Join us on February 24, 2024, at 2204 Skidaway Road in Savannah, GA for this powerful and captivating reading. Tickets are priced at $20, and this is an event you do not want to miss.
