Artist Lisa Lapinski will be hosting the 'Miss Swiss' Los Angeles Book Launch in collaboration with Bennett Simpson. The event will take place at ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, located at 917 East 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013, on February 18, 2024. 'Miss Swiss' serves as a comprehensive monograph, showcasing the remarkable artistic journey of Lisa Lapinski, a Los Angeles-based artist born in 1967. Lapinski is renowned for her intricate and diverse sculptures, which incorporate various mediums such as wood, wire, cement, and clay. In addition to her sculpture work, she also showcases her talent in painting, photography, drawing, and the use of found materials, often infusing her creations with philosophical and historical elements. This monograph, published on the occasion of her 2020 midcareer survey at the Visual Arts Center (VAC) at the University of Texas at Austin, features previously unseen images of Lapinski's exhibitions and artworks from 2000 to the present. It also includes insightful contributions by Bruce Hainley, Graham Bader, Kyle Dancewicz, Sabrina Tarasoff, MacKenzie Stevens, and a thought-provoking conversation between Lapinski and linguist Viola Schmitt. Lisa Lapinski, currently residing and working in Houston, Texas, has an impressive background, having earned her BA from the University of California, San Diego, and her MFA from Art Center College of Design. She currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Art at Rice University. Notably, she was awarded the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2004.
