This two-day workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn and master two distinct printmaking methods. On the first day, participants will delve into the art of Monoprinting. Through hands-on instruction, you will explore both the direct and subtraction methods, using a variety of tools such as rollers, brushes, pencils, and pens. Working on glass or plastic, you will experiment with black and colored printing inks, as well as an assortment of paper types. Rachel will guide you in creating stunning prints that can be easily replicated in your own studio. The second day will focus on Drypoint etching, a straightforward intaglio technique. By scratching intricate designs onto surfaces, you will create unique prints that can be reproduced using a press. Rachel will provide clear plastic and recycled cartons as mediums, along with black and colored inks and tissue paper collage. This workshop is open to artists and beginners alike, with no prior experience or drawing skills required. All necessary materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own images for inspiration. The event will take place at the Red Room in the Phoenix Art Space, located at 10-14 Waterloo Pl, Brighton, BN2 9NB. Please wear suitable attire, as printing can be messy.
