The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Class is an eight (8) hour course that provides participants with the fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitude required for the safe handling, storage, and identification of firearms. This comprehensive course covers a range of important topics, including gun safety rules, ammunition knowledge and selection, proper pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, two-handed shooting positions, and shooting range safety. During the course, students will have the opportunity to engage in live fire training and complete a nationally standardized shooting qualification under the guidance of an NRA Certified Instructor. Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a course completion certificate. To participate in the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Class, students are required to bring a properly functioning handgun, 150 rounds of ammunition, as well as eye and ear protection. For those who do not have their own firearm or ammunition, rentals are available for an additional fee. The class will be held at the APHF Shooting Center located at 6350 Horizon Drive, Titusville, FL 32780 on January 16, 2024.
