Join the Photo Installation Pop Up & Workshop at Gallery J in the Boston Public Library's Central Library on December 9, 2023. This workshop, led by photographer Feda Eid and artists from Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts Teen Bridge program, offers a unique opportunity to document yourself and your story through fashioning portraits that communicate power. Inspired by Eid's series "Made in USA," which explores cultural expression and identity, participants will have their portraits taken in front of a backdrop reminiscent of 19th-century photo studios. The workshop encourages participants to reflect on the aspects of their culture or identity that they may need to assimilate or diminish in everyday life. Come dressed in an outfit that extravagantly celebrates who you are and bring a meaningful object or item from home to feature as a prop in your portrait. Additionally, community members can participate in a Hand Me Down Clothesline Installation, where they can share words of wisdom and advice for their younger selves.
