Details

Join the Portland community at PNCA Graduate Symposium: Art + Social Consciousness, a two-day event taking place on November 2-3, 2023. This symposium, held at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, is free and open to the public. Keynote speakers Nina Elder and vanessa german will lead an immersive exploration of the intersection of art, activism, and social consciousness. Through their artwork and facilitation practices, Elder and german challenge societal norms and provoke critical dialogue. German, known for her dynamic mixed-media sculptures and community-engaged artistry, will ignite discussions on the power of creativity to effect meaningful change in historically marginalized communities. Complementing her perspective, Elder’s thought-provoking and multidisciplinary practice will shed light on the urgent need for artistic intervention to cultivate an authentic and empathetic state of living. This symposium aims to inspire a diverse audience of artists, designers, makers, educators, and community members to engage with creativity as a catalyst for social justice and environmental mindfulness. Attendees can expect a full schedule of events to be announced soon. In addition to the symposium, PNCA will also host the MFA Open Studios and First Thursday events on November 2. These events will showcase work by MFA Print Media, MFA Collaborative Design, MA Design Systems, and Post-Bacc students. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of art and social consciousness. Admission is free, so mark your calendars for this transformative event.
