Join the New Museum Los Gatos + Art Studio for the exciting event "Stitching Endangered California Plants." This event, led by exhibiting artist Liz Harvey and embroidery educator Allison Railo, offers participants the opportunity to engage in an embroidery class while delving into the fascinating world of rare native California plants. During the class, Allison will guide students through the embroidery process, from setting up to mastering three basic stitches. Students can choose from three plant designs featured in the exhibition and stitch their chosen design while engaging in a conversation about our relationship with plants in California amidst climate change and a changing environment. This conversation aligns with the thought-provoking "lost ones" performance project. As a memento of the event, participants will take home an embroidered image of an endangered native California plant, discovered through the CalScape website created by the California Native Plant Society. The class kit includes embroidery floss, needles, pre-traced fabric, and stitch diagrams. Scissors and hoops will be provided during the class. General admission for this event is $80, with a reduced fee of $65 for NUMU Members.
