Details

Join artist Alice Channer for an insightful conversation at the Production Space workshops in STEAMhouse, Birmingham. Alice will explore the significance of making, delving into the complexities of materials, processes, and the challenges of creating in a time of end-stage capitalism. This engaging event is the first in a series that brings together leading artists, designers, and makers in the Production Space workshops, co-hosted by Eastside Projects. The aim is to foster innovative thinking and encourage collective conversations around different approaches to making. Members of STEAMhouse and EOP can attend the event free of charge, while non-members are kindly asked to make a donation. Alice Channer is a London-based artist whose works encompass sculpture. She draws inspiration from industrial and natural processes, immersing herself in organic and synthetic materials to discover forms that she develops into sculptures. Her approach involves collaboration with people, machines, and materials, resulting in polyphonic works that combine multiple perspectives. Channer's work has been showcased in solo institutional exhibitions and commissioned for public spaces around the world. She has also exhibited in renowned art events such as the Liverpool Biennale, the Venice Biennale, and Glasgow International. Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights from an exceptional artist.
